During GCA's Free Proposal Writing Bootcamp (you can register/watch recordings here:  https://www.crowdcast.io/@businessgrowth ) an attendee asked me how any small business could afford to pursue corporate differentiators.  My answer made me feel bad, but I committed to give her honesty rather than a rosy-colored deceit.

There are 140,000+ small businesses registered to do work in the Federal Government industry.  As a startup, you have very limited number of ways to stand out in this crowd.  By definition, you lack historical references and past performances.  Even worse, your startup exemplifies this industries most common belief:  All small businesses are inherently risky.

I shared a brutal truth that will either:

1.  Destroy her pleasant, but completely naive, dreams

or...

2.  Nudge her in the direction of becoming an ASPIRING entrepreneur who is working towards their small business success vice enjoying pleasant dreams of becoming successful.

Nearly every entrepreneur needs this nudge.  I did.  And, thankfully, my father-in-law provided it.

Hopefully, this will be a nudge to get you on your way to successful small business ownership!
